Instruction
Curriculum
We draw from a variety of curricula, including, but not
limited to, A Beka, The Essentials Preschool Curriculum, Alpha/Omega,
and Bob Jones Press. Because of our small class sizes and our high
academic standards, we expect our students to learn at a high
level. Each teacher will know the academic and developmental milestones their
students will be expected to achieve. Teachers will offer two conferences a year so
that we can better partner with you in your
child's development. We continually research and update our curriculum. It is vital
that our teachers be well informed on current issues, research, and
developments in the education world. Spiritual
Training
Students
receive daily spiritual training at Grace Crossing
Academy. Teachers conduct daily chapel in their
classrooms, and all students and faculty worship together at an
all-school, formal chapel on Wednesdays. During this time, older
students will get a chance to help lead worship and develop vital
leadership skills. Chapel will also be a time of recognition where we honor students
who have shown outstanding character to their peers and teachers. Children will
have a chance to pray for each other, sing songs, and learn Bible
stories. All aspects of teaching revolve around the Christian
perspective. We truly believe that if children are loved, they will
learn. Additional
Subjects
Students will also attend Music,
Spanish, and P.E. classes. Our music program is designed not
only to teach children the basics of music, but also to enhance
their learning in the classroom. Spanish will be offered to all our
children because research shows that learning multiple languages at young
ages triggers the brain in ways that other types of learning
cannot; it also helps prepare our children to be successful in our
multi-cultural society. Our P.E. program isn't just playtime--it's
designed to be an active educational experience. Believing in the
concept of "multiple intelligences" and that some children learn best when
they are physically involved, P.E time will be fun but educationally
relevant.
Rest Time
In keeping with
state guidelines, teachers will provide a scheduled rest time. All
children need to bring a nap mat with them on the first day of
school.
